VISIT THE

Bonsai Garden at
Lake Merritt

We are a living art museum showcasing some of the finest bonsai in the United States. Nestled within Oakland’s Lake Merritt Lakeside Park, the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt (BGLM) is home to around 160 bonsai trees, and suiseki viewing stones. These treasures captivate both bonsai enthusiasts and the general public alike. We warmly invite you to visit us!

Celebrate World Bonsai Day May 10, 2025.

The BGLM is a nonprofit subsidiary of the Golden State Bonsai Federation (GSBF), a 501 (c)(3) educational organization.
