On the night of January 17, 2024, someone broke into the Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt (BGLM), in Lakeside Park, Oakland, California and stole eight of our bonsai trees with an estimated value of $20,000. BGLM is planning to upgrade our security measures and we are soliciting donations to help cover the costs. These thefts do not impact any one individual, but rather affect the entire community.
